Promotion windows and observed prices: a Brazilian case
Keep observed prices, promotion windows and qualifying conditions separate, then review the start, end and intended expiry action.
A saved price observation and an offer’s validity window answer different questions. A data brief should preserve both and define what happens at the start and end of an offer.
Rock Technolabs describes timed Hot Sale membership for LOI Brasil in Brazil. The review below is an editorial proposal, separate from that implementation.
Keep an observation and an offer window separate
A collected price answers what the selected page displayed at an observation time. A promotion window answers when an offer is intended to apply. Give each its own fields. Retain the source link, selected item or variant, displayed amount, currency, price label and collection time. Alongside those observations, preserve any stated promotion start, end and qualifying text.
Record the time zone only when the source establishes it or the responsible merchant confirms it. A countdown or a date without a time zone leaves a question to resolve. Likewise, an end date alone does not settle whether an offer ends at the beginning or end of that day. Keep the original wording available for review before creating a machine-readable boundary.
Preserve the conditions that determine applicability
A promotional amount may depend on a coupon, membership, payment method, selected option or another condition stated on the source page. Keep those conditions attached to that particular offer. Where the page does not explain a requirement, mark it unresolved. A lower displayed amount does not establish that every buyer can obtain it.
Separate a merchant’s planned promotion from a price observed on an external page. The plan needs its own author, version and intended window. The observation needs its source and collection time. If they disagree, retain both and assign the discrepancy for review; do not replace one with the other to make the file appear consistent.
Test what happens at the boundary
Consider a fictional test offer running from 10:00 to 12:00 UTC+08:00 on 5 November 2026, with a promotional amount of CNY 90. These values are invented for this exercise. Suppose a collection at 11:58 records that amount. At 12:01, the saved observation still describes the earlier page. It is not fresh evidence that the offer remains available.
For this exercise, the reviewer agrees that the end boundary is exclusive. Test a record before the start, one inside the window and one at the end. Include a missing end value and a later amendment. Record which version and boundary convention produced each decision. These are proposed acceptance checks, not claims about LOI Brasil’s implementation or a marketplace’s current rules.
Define the scope of expiry
Ending an offer can remove a product from a promotional selection while leaving its underlying catalogue record intact. Specify the intended action: stop using the promotional amount, remove promotional membership, or request a fresh check. Product withdrawal and stock availability require their own evidence.
For a PandaBuyNow project discussion, bring representative source links, the offer conditions your team needs and one example of the recipient’s expected output. Agree feasible fields and review the boundary cases in a sample. Collection timing, downstream changes and any running integration require a separately agreed scope.
