How to compare 1688 listings before choosing the lowest price
Compare product identity, variants and quantity tiers using a fictional 1688 example before reviewing listed prices.
A sourcing spreadsheet can put several prices next to each other while leaving the reason for their differences unclear. Before ranking listings, establish which product, quantity and price unit each row describes.
In a Reddit discussion, a buyer writing about navigating 1688 raised duplicate listings and minimum quantities as points to review. A sourcing professional on LinkedIn also highlighted quantity tiers and specifications when discussing price research. These are useful prompts for a comparison worksheet, though neither post verifies a particular supplier or offer.
Start with a written product requirement
Describe the item your team needs before copying prices into a file. Include the specifications that would change your buying decision. For a bag, that might mean dimensions, material, colour and whether the order requires printing.
Keep the listing URL beside the details you record. If you capture the page at a particular time, retain that observation time too. A saved price needs enough context for another person to review it.
Use a separate entry for each selected variant. A listing-level title may cover several options, so a title match alone cannot establish a comparable product.
Work through a fictional comparison
PandaBuyNow’s illustrative 1688 record describes a cotton canvas tote bag. Its sample quantity tiers show CNY 12.50 per piece from 10 units and CNY 10.80 per piece from 100 units. These are fictional values created to demonstrate a structure. They are not a supplier quote or observed market prices.
For an intended order of 20 pieces, the 100-unit tier cannot be used as the applicable price. The 10-unit tier would give an illustrative item subtotal of CNY 250 if that tier applies to the selected variant. The record leaves other order charges and terms unresolved.
The fictional Taobao record shows CNY 18.50 for a natural-colour variant. It omits price_unit and minimum_order_quantity. Even though the records share some descriptive values, they do not establish a verified common product identity. Calculating a saving between them would turn unresolved assumptions into a purchasing claim.
Keep review notes separate from source values
Add a review column with a concrete next question, such as “confirm price for the required variant at 20 pieces.” Preserve the listed value in its own field. A reviewer’s calculation should remain distinguishable from a seller’s statement.
When a unit or minimum quantity is absent, record the gap according to your agreed data rules. Do not fill it with an assumed value. An omitted field and an explicitly supplied null may need different treatment in your workflow.
Decide what the sample must demonstrate
Before commissioning a collection, select representative links that expose the difficult cases. Include a listing with several variants and one with quantity tiers. Ask whether the proposed file lets your team trace each price to its conditions.
PandaBuyNow works from an agreed project scope. Share your comparison requirements and discuss a representative sample before agreeing the collection.
