Review Chinese marketplace attributes for a multilingual catalogue
Keep original Chinese marketplace values linked to translated attributes, language labels and review decisions.
A translated catalogue needs a way to connect each translated attribute to the source value it describes. Otherwise, a polished title can hide an unresolved measurement, material or option.
Apply the review to the fields agreed for 1688, Alibaba, Taobao, JD, Pinduoduo, Weidian, Goofish and Yiwugo. Keep the platform identifier with every record so a translation reviewer can return to the right source and sample.
Spree Commerce’s catalogue translation video demonstrates separate language coverage and product translation status, followed by CSV export and import. In a LinkedIn interview published by Stefan Huyghe, Carola Hahn-Auer discusses clear ownership of content decisions. These examples inform the review method below; they do not describe features installed on PandaBuyNow.
Keep the original value beside the translation
For each field selected for translation, retain the source text, the target language and the link to its product or variant. Store the proposed translation separately so a reviewer can inspect both.
Consider an original fictional record with a source dimension of 38 × 42 cm and a colour described as natural. A translated label should preserve the dimension and its unit. If you add an inch conversion, identify it as a derived value with a stated rounding rule.
The fictional sample pack gives different review contexts: Alibaba and 1688 quantity terms; Taobao, JD and Weidian option labels; Pinduoduo offer conditions; Goofish stated condition; and Yiwugo published shop location. Preserve what each field means when translating it. A translated location is not a new verification of a business, and translated condition text is not an inspection result.
Resolve attribute meaning before polishing titles
A colour name, material description and model code need different treatment. Keep identifiers stable. Agree preferred terms for recurring attributes and record ambiguous source wording as a question for review.
A translator should not silently turn an unclear material statement into a precise composition claim. If the source does not provide enough detail, preserve that gap and seek clarification through the appropriate review process.
Track review status for each field and language
A translated title does not show that dimensions, option names or descriptions have also been reviewed. Use a field-level checklist or another agreed status method that lets the team see what remains open.
For a fictional five-language catalogue, the French title might be reviewed while the material description is awaiting clarification. Keep those outcomes separate. A single complete label for the whole product would conceal the remaining task.
Assign someone to approve terminology and someone to confirm the product meaning when needed. Automated drafting can assist a workflow, but it should not silently become the approval decision.
Recheck translations when source content changes
Retain a source version or observation reference for the reviewed translation. When that source changes, identify which translated fields need another look. A previously approved translation may describe the earlier source correctly while needing revision for the new one.
PandaBuyNow’s five website languages change the pages you read. They do not automatically translate delivered titles, attributes or descriptions. Discuss required output languages, retained original values and sample review criteria with the team. Translation work and its acceptance must be included explicitly in the project scope.
