Review product image references in Chinese marketplace data

Define image-reference scope, product and variant links, missing images and intended use before data delivery.

An image entry needs enough context to tell a reviewer what it belongs to and what was delivered. A URL, a downloaded image and a newly taken product photograph are different outputs.

Apply this review to 1688, Alibaba, Taobao, JD, Pinduoduo, Weidian, Goofish and Yiwugo projects. A Reddit reader asks how to obtain more product information and pictures. Angus Zhou’s 1688 video discusses listing images and videos. These sources motivate the review questions below; they do not verify a particular image or product.

Describe the image output explicitly

Agree whether the delivery should contain source references, separately supplied image files or a list of missing-image questions. Record the source platform, listing identifier and source page alongside each reference. State whether product-level and option-level images are both in scope.

PandaBuyNow’s fictional Taobao and Weidian examples contain empty image-reference lists. They illustrate an unresolved image field; they do not supply image files or establish that the corresponding real platforms have no images. Confirm image availability in the project sample.

Keep the image linked to its exact context

Use an original fictional example: record IMG-01 has natural and black options, but only one general product picture. Retain that picture at product level unless its option association is supported. Do not assign it to both options merely to fill a column.

For a Goofish listing, keep the seller’s stated condition separate from the image record. For quantity offers or conditional offers on other sources, preserve the relevant listing and option context. Similar pictures alone do not establish shared specifications, stock, seller identity or condition.

Review missing references and publication use

Check the agreed references during sample review and record broken, unavailable or ambiguous associations as exceptions. An observation at review time does not promise that an external URL will remain available. If durable files are needed, agree that output and its handling separately.

Before using imagery in a catalogue, ask who supplies the files and confirms the intended reuse. A collected reference alone is not evidence of permission. Keep that question visible for the appropriate owner. PandaBuyNow does not promise photography, image licensing or physical inspection through this guide; discuss the specific image requirements with the team.
