Clarify selling units and pack counts before using marketplace quantities
Separate ordered selling units, contents per unit and minimum quantities in data from eight Chinese marketplaces.
A quantity of ten is incomplete until the team knows what one means. An individual item, a pair and a set can describe different quantities of usable goods. Preserve the selling unit before calculating a total.

Separate the order unit from its contents
Record the original selling-unit label and the selected option. Add a contents count only where the source explicitly defines it, together with what is being counted. A word such as set does not by itself establish a fixed number of interchangeable pieces.
For an original fictional example, one selling pack contains four identical clips. Three packs would contain 12 clips if that stated composition applies to the selected option. Store three packs and four clips per pack separately; do not replace the original order quantity with 12.
Keep minimums attached to their stated basis
Record whether a displayed minimum applies to packs, individual items or another stated basis. Preserve any restriction about the selected option. If the source does not explain whether options can share a minimum, leave the question open rather than pooling their quantities.
A minimum and a price-tier threshold answer different questions. Neither a unit conversion nor a basket total confirms that the seller will accept an order. Ask for confirmation of the precise option split when that matters to the purchasing decision.
Make unknown contents a review state
Keep unknown pack counts distinct from one and zero. A mixed toolkit may contain unlike components: counting them does not make the kit equivalent to that many identical tools. Retain the component description when a single count would hide meaning.
PandaBuyNow’s public examples do not provide a verified pack hierarchy for all eight sources. Share the intended selling unit and a representative listing to agree feasible fields. A data record is not a purchase approval, a physical contents check or confirmation of the seller’s order acceptance.
